Get a quoteThis Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions Rubbish Clearance Marylebone takes to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. We are committed to acting ethically, with integrity and transparency in all our business dealings, and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery.
Rubbish Clearance Marylebone provides waste removal and clearance services to residential, commercial and public sector clients. Our activities include collection, sorting, transportation and responsible disposal or recycling of waste. We work with a range of suppliers and contractors, including providers of vehicles, equipment, waste transfer facilities, recycling centres and agency labour.
We recognise that certain parts of the waste and recycling sector, as well as some categories of temporary or low-skilled labour, can present higher risks of labour exploitation. We therefore pay particular attention to how we select, manage and monitor our suppliers and business partners.
We operate a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, forced labour, child labour and human trafficking. This applies to our own operations, our employees, and all organisations with which we conduct business.
Our expectations are embedded in our internal policies and supplier requirements. We expect everyone working for or with Rubbish Clearance Marylebone to comply with all applicable labour, employment and human rights laws. Breach of our modern slavery standards may result in disciplinary action, termination of employment or immediate suspension or termination of contracts with suppliers or contractors.
We are committed to working only with suppliers and contractors who share our commitment to ethical conduct. As part of our procurement and onboarding processes, we assess modern slavery risks and conduct proportionate due diligence.
Our approach includes, where appropriate:
Requesting confirmation of compliance with modern slavery and human trafficking laws as a condition of doing business with us. Assessing the use of subcontractors and labour providers in higher risk activities or locations. Reviewing information regarding working conditions, recruitment practices, right to work checks and wage arrangements for staff involved in our contracts. Reserving the right to conduct site visits or audits, either directly or through competent third parties, to review compliance with our standards.
Where a supplier is identified as higher risk, we may apply enhanced monitoring, more frequent reviews or additional contractual commitments. If issues are identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe, or will consider ending the relationship if improvements are not made.
We encourage all employees, workers, contractors and other stakeholders to speak up if they suspect or become aware of any instance of modern slavery or exploitation connected with our business or supply chain.
Concerns can be raised with a line manager, a senior manager or directly with our designated compliance contact. Reports may be made confidentially and will be taken seriously, investigated promptly and handled sensitively. We do not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, regardless of whether it is ultimately substantiated.
Where appropriate, and particularly if there is an immediate risk to a person’s safety, we will escalate matters to the relevant authorities and work cooperatively with them.
We aim to ensure that relevant staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, contract management and on-site supervision, understand the risks of modern slavery and how to identify and respond to potential indicators.
We periodically provide guidance and awareness materials on ethical employment, safe recruitment, and the signs of labour exploitation, so that our people know how to report any concerns they may have.
We are committed to continually improving our approach to preventing modern slavery. We monitor the effectiveness of our policies and processes through regular internal reviews, feedback from employees and suppliers, and by staying informed about industry good practice and regulatory developments.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains current, effective and aligned with our values. As part of each review, we consider any incidents reported, the outcomes of supplier audits, changes in our business operations and emerging risk areas. Where necessary, we will update our procedures, strengthen controls or introduce new measures to enhance our oversight and resilience against modern slavery.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Rubbish Clearance Marylebone and will be made available to employees, suppliers, customers and other interested parties upon request.
